Suicide Options

Do you want to split hairs, meaning do you want to chase the most miniscule of moves in a stock's price? With the way options are structured on Pfizer you can. Look at this five day chart on Pfizer and look at this particular Call option series. These are the 24 series of Calls that expire this Friday. Why do I think these Calls offer good value? Two reasons, the first being that this stock trades on high volumes. As as of 3:50 p.m. today the stock has traded in excess of 39.6 million shares. I take comfort in this number. With this much volume I would think that the option makers would have less power and less desire to control any short term directional moves that this stock has. The second reason I like these options is that they trade in one dollar increments. I like that. In my blogs about Walmart I mention the same thing. In this case we now have a "Bid" of .22 and an "Ask" .25 with a high on the day of .42. Purchase these options in quanties of 20, 30, ...

Ford - An Earning Report

Ford is going electric, that's the buzz. We all know the story. Earnings just came out on the stock and the Call options jumped on the opening. If you were playing options you had to get out just after the opening. With option plays on earning reports that's usually the way to best way play them. First, I will show the prior day's action. There was a gap down on the opening and 94 million shares traded. That's a large number. People were cashing out after recent good times.
Now here is a chart of Ford the next day and here is how two option series traded. Buy in at the close and sell out just after the opening. Look at how high each series traded up to just after the opening. The earning numbers were not all that great but it's the buzz about going electric.

Some say to think small, not big. Trying to play Disney options is thinking big. It is a stock slightly out of favor. Another Blog On "Vinfast"

There is so much to read about this companies history online. Do your own homework. Their success is not dependent on what ends up happening with their sales in North America. They are nimble. There are plenty of auto factories all over the world now for sale they can acquire. They have dabbled in Australia. Having access to money to keep going doesn't seem to be their problem. Rivian also seems to enjoy this advantage. Vinfast is currently building a new plant in India which could employ thousands of people. That's an emerging new market. New relationships are being built and new investors will be coming onboard. Are option players looking at this stock? Not really if we look at these "one-month-out" Calls. Waiting For A Drop On The Opening On Bad News - Eli Lilly

Here is the bad news. The company is Eli Lilly. How bad is this news? Well look at it trading in the premarkets. So what do I think? I think the news is a setback of sorts, but not really all that bad. The stock is going to open lower, that's a given. It's like trying to play Boeing after an announcement that an airplane has crashed. So the stock is going to crash and it might have a small rebound and then it's going to slide down some more. A test of sorts will happen sometime in the afternoon. It might stock falling but then where will it go from there? The best case scenario is a recognition that investors got it all wrong and the stock ends up flat on the day. Yet there might be more of a downward dumping of the stock on the close followed by a selloff on tomorrows opening. Should option players be jumping in to play the upside on next week's Calls?
